The final piece for my art unit on music, a pair of acrylic paintings of the legends, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai
I wanted to capture the relationship between the two virtuoso's [Satch having taught Vai], the emotion in the music and in their faces and their dynamic-ness [is that a word? lol sorry it's getting late...], but i also wanted to show their two distinct styles, in both the way they play and the way they look, which is why I done them on two canvases that go together
These paintings follow on from my Jimi Hendrix prep work painting, working in the same free flowing, colour driven style-it's a new sorta direction, but i just added colour wherever I felt it should be, rather than where I THINK it should be which really y'know, let me open up and it's made my paintings a lot more lively and even more realistic! just goes to show that life can't be painted straight from the paint tube somtimes, gotta mix the colours around =]
[these paintings also follow on from my Boat in a Storm painting, where I first started developing this colour-driven style]
these aren't completely finished yet btw, and if you were wondering, Joe Satriani is the bald guy
